The head is seamed separately from the tentacles and then joined to the neck with hand stitches. Hard to see in the photo, but Ozzie wears a scarf tie to hide the stitches.

Finished size is not mentioned in this retro pattern, but he should measure around 27" or so when finished, judging by size of pattern pieces.
